  "The World Turned Upside Down"

  Centered on the Battle of Yorktown in 1781, the final battle of the American Revolutionary War, this recording features music from each country represented at this historic battle: British, Hessian, American, and French. Though there is no record of “The World Turned Upside Down” being played by the British as they surrendered, it is a popular legend. Through new scholarship and use of some long-time favorites, the Fifes and Drums of Colonial Williamsburg bring you music from each of these countries. This CD was recorded at Carter’s Grove and features photos taken at the Yorktown Battlefield. New on this volume is a feature including excerpts from performances and interviews with current staff and members. Recorded in 2003.

  Echoes of Revolution

  Available on CD or cassette tape, this volume was digitally recorded outdoors behind Bassett Hall and digitally mastered. Featured on this volume are medleys, troopings, inspections, and fife solos using manuscripts as well as such composers’ music as Beethoven, Handel, St. Martini, Mouret, Telemann, and William Billings. Candid photos of the recording process are included. Recorded in 1996.

  Marching Out of Time

  Our first recording to be made available on CD as well as cassette, this volume divides its music up into compound and common time signatures with a wide variety of medleys, troopings, incidental music, and individual tunes from the British Isles, France, and Germany, proving that the Fifes and Drums didn’t just play Yankee Doodle. Candid photos of Fife and Drum corps members and staff in rehearsal are included. Recorded in 1989.
