Teacher Institute Staff


  • Tab Broyles

    Tab Broyles

    is the Peter L. and Patricia O. Frechette Director of Teacher Professional Development. She develops, reviews, and evaluates on- and offsite Teacher Development programs and has collaborated with more than 120 school districts to develop programming and grant proposals for private and governmental funding. Since 1990, Tab has implemented the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute which as of 2019 has welcomed more than 10,300 participants. She has presented at the National Council for Social Studies Conference, state affiliate organizations, and on- and offsite workshops.


  • Jodi Norman

    Jodi Norman

    is the Manager of Operations. She is responsible for the logistics and day-to-day operations of the Teacher Institute and on- and offsite workshops. Jodi also develops programming, works with three-day seminars, and maintains the Education Resource Library.


  • Henry (Andy) Engel

    Henry (Andy) Engel

    is the Manager of Program Development. He is responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of curriculum, programming and staff training. Andy also organizes Teacher Institute sessions and on- and offsite workshops throughout the year.


  • Stacy Hasselbacher Hernandez

    Stacy Hasselbacher Hernandez

    is the Coordinator-Trainer. Stacy organizes Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute sessions and three-day seminars. She also develops and delivers on- and offsite programs for teachers.


  • Elana McGovern

    Elana McGovern

    is the Administrative Specialist. She is responsible for administrative and clerical support for Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute programs and staff. She also manages evaluation and application software programs.


  • Valerie Perkins

    Valerie Perkins

    is the Registration Operations Coordinator. She manages the database for registrations for all on- and offsite Teacher Development programs. Valerie has worked with the Foundation in different areas for more than two decades.


  • Dr. William (Bill) Fetsko

    Dr. William (Bill) Fetsko

    is an instructional and curriculum specialist who assists with conferences, development and editing of resources, and teacher professional development programming. He spent 35 years in public education as a high school history teacher, district social studies supervisor, and curriculum coordinator before serving the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation since 1997 as a consultant and volunteer.
